Rising Stars: Cowbell makes two leadership promotions amid the company’s continued path to near-term profitability

With 2024 well underway, I’m excited to share two executive promotions: Sahar Sabouni, Head of Employee Success, is now Cowbell’s Chief People Officer, and Dan Palardy, Lead Actuary, has been promoted to Chief Actuary. Cowbell is proud to have Sahar and Dan continue their leadership journey and grateful for their continued contributions to the company’s success. These promotions recognize their outstanding work and dedication to the organization.
Sahar joined Cowbell in May 2021 and built the company’s People Operations, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development infrastructure from the ground up. She’s responsible for creating a people-first culture, focused around the organization’s TRUE (Transparency, Resiliency, Urgency & Empowerment) values, growth & development, and benefits & wellness programs, which have successfully and consistently won Cowbell either Inc.’s Best Workplace award or the Great Place to Work awards every year for the past three years. So far, during her time at the organization, Sahar has effectively grown the company fourfold.
Prior to joining Cowbell, Sahar held positions at Nexxiot as VP of People & Business Operations, and multinational public companies including Mondelez International, where she spearheaded projects such as establishing HR Shared Service Operations, setting up HR infrastructure for spin-off entities, leading transformation project that drove multi-million-dollar cost-savings and orchestrating week-long flagship events for top leaders and talents. Sahar recently received her MBA from York St. John University, further exemplifying her commitment to her craft and career.
Dan started at Cowbell in January 2022, where he brought 13 years of actuarial and underwriting experience to the company. During his time as Lead Actuary, he was the head of the Actuarial and Catastrophe Modeling team. His work at Cowbell has resulted in other industry accolades such as being a finalist for the Program Manager Rising Star of the Year 2023 and a frequent industry speaker and commentator in the areas of Cyber Insurance and Cyber Actuarial Models.
Before Cowbell, Dan worked at Axis Capital, where he specialized in cyber and professional lines reinsurance pricing, as Senior Pricing Actuary.
Dan and Sahar’s promotions reflect Cowbell’s commitment to promoting talent from within the company. They are both exemplary employees whose contributions in their respective roles are not only impressive but critical to the organization’s success.
